Oh no, not another 1001 albums blog
Doggystyle by Snoop Doggy Dogg (1993) #752/1001

Obviously coming into this project I knew I would be listening to some records that normally would not form part of my listening. I know precisely nothing about rap in any form and so I came to this record without any expectations.

Did I like it? Well, not really. Musically it’s pretty good, though repetitive, but lyrically I didn’t connect with it at all. I did find myself listening to some ‘clean’ version of it where all the swearing was obscured (I’m assuming there is a non tampered with version too), this meant that some songs were barely listenable, and I’m sure a lot of humour has been lost by this pointless censorship.

But saying that most of the songs seemed to be about ‘hoes’, with the occasional track about smoking or, strangely, getting dressed. Not for me this one.

Next will be: C’est Chic by Chic
