Oh no, not another 1001 albums blog
This Year’s Model by Elvis Costello (1978) #401/1001

For as long as I can remember I have disliked Elvis Costello. I have no idea when or why this started as I had never actually heard any of his records but all I knew was I wasn’t interested. So when this album came out of the hat I wasn’t best pleased.

But, who’d have thought it, turns out I actually really enjoyed it. I’m still not madly in love with his voice, a bit too whiney in parts for me, but there is no denying the songwriting is excellent. Every song is good, not a single duff track. Pump It Up is an obvious highlight but the whole thing is genuinely enjoyable.

No one is more surprised than me by this turn of events…….whatever next!

And the next record will be: Dance Mania Vol.1 by Tito Puente and His Orchestra
